Different Types of Chinese VisasThere are eight types of ordinary Chinese visas, each marked by a letter of the alphabet. Z - Work VisaThe Z visa is issued to anyone who comes to China to work. X - Student VisaThe student visa is issued to anyone coming to China to study for a period of six months or more. D - Residence VisaThis is issued to any foreigner who are going to live in China permanently. G - Transit VisaThis visa is for anyone who plans to pass through China with no intention of staying. It allows a transit time of xx days. J - Journalist VisaIssued to journalists.
